HOW DO YOU CALL THE SEASONS IN ITALIAN?

Now that you know how to say the word seasons in Italian, let’s see how the seasons are actually called.

1. SPRING – LA PRIMAVERA

La PRIMAVERA (f.) /la: primaˈvɛra/ is the season called SPRING in English.

Surely we all agree that “la primavera” is a wonderful season … the weather improves, the days are brighter and the nature is in blossom.

2. SUMMER – L’ESTATE

L’ ESTATE (f.) /l’esˈtate/ is our beloved SUMMER!

Who doesn’t love summer? It’s the time of the year to go on holidays, laying on the beach, swimming in the sea … Lot of sun and lot of fun!!!

3. AUTUMN – L’AUTUNNO

L’AUTUNNO (m.) /l’ auˈtunno/ is what you know in English as AUTUMN.

It’s normally when you pick up again all the activities left during the summer.

The weather gets worst and the days are shorter, but the nature is unique in this season. Its wonderful colors definitely make the autumn so special!

4. WINTER – L’INVERNO

And here at last it comes L’INVERNO (m.) /inˈvɛrno/, that is the cold WINTER.

The weather is generally very cold and rainy/snowy, but this season is also associated with Christmas and the holiday break. So it’s not so bad in the end 😉
