I’m Italian and I created this website to promote my beautiful country and its language.

A teacher by PASSIONÂ
I’m not an Italian teacher by profession
I’m actually an IT management engineer with a strong interest in language learning.
I have a full time job and hence PASSION is what drives me in this project!
At school, I loved studying Italian history, art and literature. Ancient Greek and Latin were also among my favorite subjects.
I could have become an Italian teacher, but for practical reasons (job opportunities), I took a different path and graduated in IT management engineering.
However, I never lost my interest in history and language learning.
Along the years I spent time and resources to keep studying and I moved abroad to get in touch with other cultures.
I’ve now been living in Ireland for several years and I really enjoy working for global companies in multi-cultural environments.
Being in a such international city it also gives me the opportunity to keep practicing my languages and everyday I learn something new.Â
Today, I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese fluently and planning to soon add French to the list.
Why Connex-ITAÂ
Italy is a beautiful country, full of history and gorgeous places to discover.
Living abroad for a few years I realized that I wanted people to know more about the numerous resources and beauties that Italy offers and so I created this project: Connex-ITA.
I started with one goal in mind: teaching Italian in a simple and practical way to English speakers to help them to connect with Italy and Italians.
I believe that you only really get to know a culture when you can merge with that. And to do so you need to know its language.Â
I try to focus on the use of the language in real life rather than on the traditional approach based on studying the grammar rules.
In fact, learning the grammar is fundamental in the learning process, but it’s pointless unless you put it in a more practical context. I know from experience that the best way to really learn a language is to use it: you can learn from books but if you don’t practice, you will never be able to interact with other speakers.
In this website, I’m planning to also share information about Italian history and culture and some advice on how to organize your trip to Italy.Â
There are so many things to discover about “il Bel Paese” that you can’t even imagine!
My Approach to LEARN A LANGUAGE
How many times did you start to learn a new language for then giving up after just a couple of months, weeks or even days?Â
Learning a language doesn’t happen overnight, but it’s more than doable!
My secret to learn more effectivelyÂ
When I learn a new language, I forget about the traditional approach and follow some simple principles.
My learning needs to be EASY, FUN, FAST and ALIVE!

EASY
Nowadays, there’s too much information and too little time to process it!
It’s hard to find time to read and to learn new things.
So what can you do?
Give up on learning?
Of course not! Just KEEP IT SIMPLE!
Focus on one step at the time and learn little by little (even a couple of new words a day!).
In this way you won’t feel overwhelmed and you’ll get the results you want.Â
Remember that this is not a sprint but a long distance run!
FAST
We already know that you don’t learn a new language overnight, but you can speed up this process.
How?
Focusing on how to use the language in real life.
Imagine some realistic situations and start learning common phrases that you need to interact with other people.
It’s certainly more enjoyable than spending hours on grammar rules.
Remember that people generally learn better by doing and with practice.
FUN
How you learn is as crucial as what you learn.
If you don’t enjoy the way you learn, it’s more likely that you get lost along the way and forget your ultimate goal.
There’s not an absolute answer to this or a method that works for everyone. We’re all different and so we learn differently.
You need to find what works for you.
Try out different approaches to see what you prefer… and have fun while you do it 🙂
ALIVE
As I said, you can’t rely only on books and learning resources to know how to speak a language.
The most important thing is to practice.
There are many ways to use a language and make it part of your daily life: you can write down your thoughts, listen to music, read about a topic you like or speak with a friend/mate.
With internet there are really many options for you to practice even if you don’t live abroad … it’s completely up to you!
